TERMS OF SERVICE

Terms of Service

These terms describe feature boundaries, account responsibilities, AI output, Free and Pro subscriptions, and termination.

Version date: 1.1Updated: 2026-07-22

1. The service

Explixit is a PDF-reading extension for desktop Google Chrome. After you enable reading mode, it can provide page translation, summaries, keywords, paper chat, selection actions, highlights, comments, notes, and related AI features.

Explixit does not modify the original PDF or promise to generate a newly typeset translated PDF. Leaving reading mode restores Chrome's native PDF reader.

2. Availability

Explixit depends on PDF.js, AI models, payment services, and hosting. We maintain the service but cannot guarantee that every PDF, model, or third-party service will always be available without interruption. Maintenance, security events, supplier failures, and force-majeure events may temporarily affect features.

3. Account responsibilities

  • Provide a usable email address and protect passwords and login tokens.
  • Do not share an account to evade usage limits or access documents that are not yours.
  • Stop using the service and notify support after suspected unauthorized access.
  • Ensure that you have a lawful basis to upload and process PDFs, images, selections, and comments.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use Explixit to:

  • Upload, distribute, or process protected content without permission.
  • Engage in illegal, fraudulent, infringing, harassing, or security-evasion activity.
  • Probe, attack, or overload the service, or bypass account, ownership, quota, or payment controls.
  • Extract server credentials, forge AI results, or impersonate another user.

5. User content

You retain applicable rights in PDFs, questions, comments, notes, and other content that you are entitled to use. To provide the service, you permit the operator to transmit and process a PDF within each request and to store document metadata, ownership, conversations, and feature results. Explixit does not persist the original bytes of a new PDF.

This permission is limited to operating, protecting, and improving the features you request. It does not transfer ownership of a paper or your content to Explixit.

6. AI output and academic judgment

  • Summaries, translations, explanations, answers, and automatic highlights are generated by automated models and may be wrong, incomplete, or out of context.
  • Verify important formulas, conclusions, citations, and numbers against the original PDF.
  • AI output is not academic, legal, medical, investment, or other professional advice.
  • Different models and configurations may produce different answers and do not guarantee an author's intended meaning.

7. Free, Pro, and payment

Free costs $0. Pro costs $12 per month or $120 per year, in US dollars. There is currently no free trial, credit pack, add-on pack, or metered purchase.

Pro renews automatically through Stripe. You can update payment details, view invoices, or schedule cancellation at the end of the billing period in Billing Portal. Pro remains available through a paid period after scheduled cancellation and then returns to Free.

Pro access stops immediately after payment failure, a full refund of the current period, a payment dispute, or the actual end of the subscription. There is no additional payment grace period. See the Refund and cancellation policy.

Stripe processes card data. Explixit does not store full card numbers or CVC values. Stripe may send receipts, invoices, and failed-payment notices.

8. Third-party services

Explixit may depend on PDF.js, model providers, a text-model gateway, Stripe, hosting, and database services. Supplier outages, regional restrictions, quotas, or changed terms may affect functionality. See the Privacy Policy and AI and third-party processing.

9. Suspension, termination, and deletion

The operator may limit or stop access for security incidents, illegal use, attacks, chargebacks, or material breach. Before deleting an account with an active Pro subscription, cancel it in Stripe Billing Portal. See Account and data deletion.

10. Disclaimers and liability boundaries

The service is provided as currently available, without a promise of uninterrupted or error-free operation, support for every PDF, or fitness for a particular research purpose. Poor scans, encryption, copy restrictions, unusual structure, file size, page count, or context limits may prevent processing.

These terms do not exclude consumer rights or liabilities that applicable law does not allow a contract to exclude or limit.

11. Changes and contact

We will update the version and date when features, processing, or commercial rules materially change. For account, billing, refund, infringement, or security questions, contact explixitai@outlook.com.
